Computerized Tomography Scan (CT Scan)
Computerized Tomography Scan (CT Scan)
Description
A computerized tomography scan (CT scan) is a type of imaging that uses X-ray technology to create detailed images of parts of the body. A computer forms cross-sectional images that reveal more detail than a basic X-ray. A CT scan can show bones, veins and arteries, and various types of soft tissues. CT scans are not normally part of regular aviation medical examinations, but they can be used if questions arise about particular medical problems. They can identify blood clots, tumors, infections, and other issues.
