Description

The need for establishing a cross border area usually arises after repetitive arrangement of joint military exercises between the air forces of neighbouring states. The preparation and execution often causes issues with airspace planning and allocation. A special Letter of Agreement between the ANSPs as well as regulatory coordination is normally required between the countries for each exercise.

With the implementation of permanent exercise areas, state level agreements and associated letters of agreement the conduct of these exercises can be standardized so that the work required in the planning is reduced significantly.
